Most modern cars run tubeless tyres, but tubes are still common on some rims, older vehicles and heavy commercials. Here's the difference.
The tyre seals directly against the rim; air is held by the tyre and rim together. Advantages: slower deflation when punctured (safer at speed), easier roadside plug repairs, cooler running, slightly better fuel economy. This is the standard for cars and SUVs.
An inner tube holds the air. Still used on some steel-rim commercials, older 4x4s and agricultural equipment. A puncture deflates faster, and repairs mean removing the tyre.
If your rims are designed for tubeless, stay tubeless — don't fit a tube 'to be safe', as it traps heat and can fail. For trucks, matatus and tractors we'll advise per your rim and axle. WhatsApp us your vehicle and we'll confirm.
