'Mitumba' or ex-Japan used tyres are everywhere and tempting on price. But the maths — and the safety record — rarely favour them.

What you can't see

A used tyre may look fine but have internal damage from a past impact, hidden plug repairs, or dangerous age. You have no history and no warranty.

The real cost per kilometre

A used tyre with 40% of its tread left at half the price of new isn't a saving — you're buying less than half the life, with more risk. New budget brands like Triangle or Linglong often cost only a little more than good used tyres and give you full tread, full warranty and a known age.
